Welcome to SmarterBook Extension. By installing, accessing, or using our Chrome extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using the extension.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not install or use SmarterBook Extension.

Academic Integrity

Important Disclaimer

SmarterBook does not condone academic dishonesty or the use of the software to cheat on assignments. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their use of the software complies with their school's academic policies and guidelines, and should use the software at their own risk.

By using SmarterBook Extension, you acknowledge and agree that:

You are solely responsible for your use of the extension and compliance with your educational institution's academic integrity policies
The extension is intended as a study aid and learning tool, not as a means to circumvent learning objectives
You will not use the extension to cheat on exams, quizzes, or graded assignments where such use is prohibited
You understand that violations of your school's academic integrity policy may result in serious consequences, including academic sanctions or disciplinary action

SmarterBook Extension is independently developed and operated. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to:

McGraw-Hill Education or any of its subsidiaries
Any textbook publisher or educational content provider
Any educational institution or university

The extension is a third-party tool designed to assist students with their coursework. Any trademarks, service marks, or trade names referenced are the property of their respective owners.

Acceptable Use

When using SmarterBook Extension, you agree to:

User Accounts and Data

SmarterBook Extension does not require user registration or account creation. We do not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or student IDs.

The extension may store settings and preferences locally on your device to enhance functionality. We do not collect, store, or transmit your course material, textbook content, questions, or answers to external servers.

BETTERBOOK EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content or results
Warranties that the extension will meet your requirements or expectations
Warranties that the extension will be secure, uninterrupted, or error-free

Your use of SmarterBook Extension is at your sole risk. We do not warrant that the extension will help you achieve any particular academic outcome or grade.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BETTERBOOK EXTENSION AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

Academic Consequences: Academic sanctions, disciplinary action, grade reductions, or any other consequences resulting from your use of the extension
Data Loss: Loss of data, course progress, saved settings, or any other information
Technical Issues: Technical malfunctions, incompatibilities, or conflicts with other software
Indirect Damages: Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the extension
Direct Damages: Any direct damages exceeding the amount you paid to use the extension (which is $0, as the extension is free)

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SmarterBook Extension, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

Your use or misuse of the extension
Your violation of these Terms of Service
Your violation of any rights of another party
Your violation of any academic integrity policy or applicable law

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes may be notified through the extension or on our website.

Your continued use of SmarterBook Extension after changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you should discontinue use of the extension.
